Moved abroad, not getting 4G despite phone and network capable

So I bought my Xperia XZ F8331 in 2016 in the UK, and was getting 4G with Three there. I've now moved abroad to NZ, and initially kept my UK number as my plan allowed me to use data. With the recent upgrade to Oreo I've found that I'm not getting 4G at all, but instead getting 3G.

I hadn't changed any settings between leaving the UK, where I was getting 4G, and arriving in NZ, where I am not. It appears that my phone is using 2degrees while I'm over here. I have tried downloading network settings several times and made sure my phone is set to prefer 4G LTE but it doesn't give me it.

I went to 2 network providers here in NZ, 2degrees and Vodaphone, to see if it was just cause it was a roaming sim I was using. Employees in each of these stores, who had 4G on their own phone, used their sim card in my phone and all we could get was H+. We tried downloading internet settings while on both of these networks but it still would only give H+.

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do now short of a factory reset, but I don't want to do that if it won't actually change anything. I've checked online at frequencycheck.com and my phone should be compatible with the 4G bands used in NZ, so it won't be that.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Just a guess.

Set preferred network type to 2G, restart phone, set preferred network type to 4G, restart and see what happens.

So used the *#4636#*#* code to set it to 2G only, restarted it, then used the same menu to change it to LTE only and restarted again, and with LTE only it says no service. I know there is service because the lady in the shop next to me has 4G on her phone from the same network, so there definitely is service, but the phone can't pick it up for some reason.

The thing that's confusing me is that it was saying no signal not emergency calls only, it wouldn't even pick up on other 4G signals in the area such as Spark or Vodafone.

Hi,

Note that Three UK is using LTE band 3 and 20 and in NZ you have 3 and 28, so may have areas in NZ where you will not be able to connect to LTE since your phone is not configured for band 28. You should ask the operator if they use band 3 where you are.

Can you tell me the:

Phone SW info and Customisation version

you can see if you dial *#*#SERVICE#*#* and service info -> Software info ?

Thanks
