Hi there. I was checking my SMS when my phone froze for no reason (about 1 hour ago). The screen has remained on and the flashing cursor no longer flashes. The touchscreen does not respond and the none of the buttons on the sides of the device respond either. Unfortunately, this includes the on/off button. I've tried to do a long press to force the device to turn off but this has not worked either. I don't know how to open the case to remove the battery and would not be comfortable doing so. Has anyone got any ideas to help?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Please press and hold Power + Volume Up together for a few seconds. This should force a restart.
Do not open the phone in any case as it would void your warranty.
If the phone would really be dead it's a case for the warranty.
Thank you very much! I did not know about this method. As it happens, just as I was about to try it my phone died (presumably as the battery was depleted). If the same problem recurs, I will try this out.
Let's hope the same problem doesn't occur again
I've never encountered such a problem with my XZ3 so hopefully you won't again, either
LSame problem for me. After abt 5 weeks without any problems this occurred a few times now. Screen remains black making you think you accidentally switched off the phone. In my case I also experienced issues with a non responding screen when the screen was "awake". Trying to restart or switch off the phone didn't work. Using the side button showed the turn of/restart/screen dump menu, but none of the options responded. Seems these problems occur more as time goes by....
