Whenever I ask to play a video of some sort of video. netflix puts a message up (problem playing content). I have a netflix account and can watch it on my tablet. Same with my4. Others streaming channels work fine. Tried uninstall and download, settings fine.

You mentioned that you receive an error message when you try to play a video through Netflix and My4, does this error message contain any kind of error code, for example 1001, 1002 and so on? Also, have you been in contact twith the Netflix/My4 support in order to see if they have a solution?
