The quality of Sony XZ1 camera is worse than the old smartphone for $ 100
The followin is the photo I made today (I did many photos, but all of them are failed by Sony XZ1 camera). Sony support I would like to see your comments on that ......
Please take a look on this area on above photo. It lost ALL details, the photo is totally blurred.
The following is the photo made by $100 old phone. Do you see the difference??? I think it is much much better.
Go into the "Lounge" app and you will find some tutorials on how to get the best out of the camera
The camera is really really really bad... I bought my Xperia XZ1 yesterday, and I'm terrified of the quality the camera offers
the fact is from the photo and the video is not very good, it's a shame for Sony one of the largest and best camera manufacturers, giving the cheap and weak camera to their phones, they should be ashamed of. They are still surprised to sell fewer and fewer phones, but fans have left them, a dual camera, optical stabilization is missing, and Sony has taken away and destroyed as many features as the charts to change the colors and effects of the environment, or Xperia actions in XZ3, and please do not all disappear a lot of Xperia applications that have been very popular in Europe and elsewhere, Sony adds what we do not want (3d creator, SwiftKey, ) and takes what we like (3.5mm Jack and Lifelog, themes, wheater, Xperia home and etc apps)
The blurring effect is only visible once you start zooming in to pixelpeep. Looking at the complete photo on a small screen like a mobile phone you won't notice any blurring at all and the results are just fine.
But I have to admit that using Open Camera or CameraMX give much better sharpness without the blurring effect, although the results in low light are worse because they don't use any noise reduction. If you really care about getting the most out of the camera I would advise to use one of those apps in daylight, you would be surprised by the difference in details.
The camera software is written badly, almost always the frames are heavily blurred and there is no normal sharpness, especially in portraits, the face turns into a wax mask. The second-the camera settings in manual mode are displayed in a very thin font and inscriptions, in the afternoon nothing is visible on the screen.
Work HDR mode is almost never visible, there is no difference between normal photo and HDR
Guys have a look at these pics. These were taken on my XZ1 on the standard camera app and no edits. I have played around and I think the camera is capable of some great shots. I admit its notnthe greatest but understand it and you will get what you are looking for.
I dont think that camera is bad.
At least not mine.

Best result for me is going Manual.
In bright environments use HDR activated, lower shutter speed and lower brightness 🔆.
Bad lighting conditions.
Disable HDR in Manual because it over compensate in ISO levels and makes it look bright but super grainy.
Use manual, low ISO (50) use shutter speed to regulate brightness. Snap a picture with good details and edit it in post to your preferences of brightness lvl.
I want to give one more tip.
If you want on day light environment better hdr results and more eye pleasant photos use camera mx.
Choose from settings jpeg quality on max and hdr on.
Just give it a try and you will see what I say.
I use it only on good light contitions because on low light I go manual with stock.
I really wish Sony could even slightly sharpen up the images with Android Pie update. I have honestly never seen as soft images from a smartphone before, unless we are talking of some cheap models from past years.
Sony your fans like you, but you cannot pull off nasty surprises like this or you lose your customers. XZ1 takes so soft photos that I'm suspicious if many of these phones really are faulty and Sony remains silent so people wouldn't return them.
My former LG G5 took much better photos no matter the condition.
PS. The pictures on this second page people have posted are fine to me, but I don't know if my device is faulty or do my hands shake too much when my photos seem to not correctly focus on the subject. I will try and disable the object tracking and use full 19 MP 4:3 mode from now on if those would help.
