hi, since i have bought this phone (xz1 compact) i'm not able to send e-mail (using the native app), i'm only able to read them
any idea?
thanks
Solved! Go to Solution.
Ok @Federico2, first off all confirm that you have IMAP turned on on Gmail, on a computer open Gmail, go to settings, click the forwarding and POP/IMAP tab, in the IMAP access section select Enable IMAP and save changes in the end.
Now on the outgoing settings of the email app fill the following:
SMTP server : smtp.gmail.com
Port: 587
Type of security: STARTTLS
Enable "requires authentication"
Complete with your Gmail address and password.
If with that type of security doesn't work try with other (with SSL the port is 465).
Hi @Federico2;
Are you not able to send emails in the native app or Gmail?
If it is the native app have you checked if the sending settings of your account are correct?
it is the native app, i have checked the settings and are the ones that google say to use (i have a gmail accaunt) then i changed them to different ones (these suggested by google too) and nothing chaged...
because i dislike it, and the "E-mail" (this is the name) app, is far more clear and organized,
so, any advice on how to solve ?
or can you figure out the settings to check if myne are correct?
thanks

you are my hero, it worked!
thanks a lot
thank you for your help
Sorry, tried this on Xperia XZ - still doesn't work...
IMAP is enabled
SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
Port 587 (also tried 587)
Security type starttls (also tried ssl/tls)
Username ***
Password ***
The message that returns on the phone says: Could not finish. Your email address, password [all verified!] or certificate was not recognized by your email [Gmail?] provider. Note that the password is case sensitive. If you have forgotten your account information, please contact your email provider.
Interestingly, the same settings worked fine on the other (old) phone.
Is there anything else to try?
Thank you,
Jaroslav
