I am having problems answering the phone. The green phone bouncers but will not answer on pressing and will not swipe either up, down or across. Please how do I answer a call
Do a software repair and try again.
Hi @Salobrena, sorry to hear about this.
Is this something that you have started to experiencing very recently, for example after you updated the device or after installing a new application?
All you should have to do is swipe the icon up and the call should be answered.
Could you please try and restart your device in safe mode and see if you then are able to answer an incoming call to the device? This is so we can see if any downloaded application is the cause of this.
You can also try and reset the phone application if you go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > Phone > Storage > Clear data. Do note that this may delete your call log.
If there has been no change, follow the suggestion given by @TheRealEasy and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion.
The repair will delete all data stored on the internal storage of the device and reinstall the latest available software, so it is advised that you create a backup using Xperia Companion before starting with the repair.
Let us know how it went!
I am having problems answering the phone from the lock screen. The green phone button does swipe up to the middle of the screen but returns to the bottom as soon as it is released. I repeat anwsering the green button, swipe it up and it may answer, have a 50% chance of it answering.
And I have reloaded my phone..
In my use of the XZ1 Compact I have found out a few things. First: a few things about me, I use my left hand only due to a stroke, I use my thumb only to swipe. Second: I upgraded from a Xperia Z5 Compact and on the older Z5 that would allow the use of a full thumb print (I could press hand) to move the green button. The XZ1 Compact DOES NOT allow the use of a big thumb, the button moves but does not answer the phone, a light touch does(like a index finger of the right hand). I guess the software persons did not plan on the left handed person using their thumb.
Hi,
Try this:
First you need to get into your developer options, then you can enable the layout change. Here's how:
Go into Settings > About Phone.
Scroll down until you see "Build Number" and tap it seven times in quick succession. This will enable developer options (if they're not enabled already.)
Once your phone tells you you're a developer, hit the back button to go to the main settings.
At the bottom, right above About Phone, you'll now see "Developer Options" where it wasn't before. Tap it.
Scroll down and tap the box to enable "Force RTL layout direction".
Your layout should instantly switch, giving your left thumb better reach to tap everything you need without so much strain. In addition, you'll see the layout direction of your home screen has changed. You'll pull to open Google Now the same way
