After upgrading to Android Pie 9 2 days ago, GPS stop working. Italian firmware
Hi Peter,
how do you manage to update your phone in the Czech Republic, I await in vain from October and still nothing!
If you google this XZ1C and GPS you'll find this problem exists on this model on both Oreo and Pie. I found a solution of sorts although it essentially confirms it is a hardware issue not software. Taking the phone out of the case and squeezing the top left down to the SD card and SIM card bay door restores the GPS, not long after letting go the GPS will drop off again. I did this numerous times as I drove out to the relatives this Christmas Eve and it worked every time.
Have update to pie in UK, GPS works for Google maps, but strava and other apps that use GPS can't get a GPS fix since the update , have updated all apps on phone, uninstalled and reinstalled the running (like strava) apps but problem persists.
I upgraded to Android Pie (47.2.A.6.30), UK release a few days ago.
I checked my GPS with Google Maps and some other GPS testing apps. It seems to be working fine, however I haven't yet used the feature extensively.
It seems to be the case that this update released by Sony may kill major features of XZ1 Compact. In my case I completely lost NFC feature after upgrading.
I know that this topic is about GPS, still I would greatly appreciate if some of you can check whether your NFC is working. You can find a few topics I opened about the issue:

Resolved problem by turning off everything I could find about locations and WiFi or Bluetooth scanning . Stopped all location related services , restarted phone. Went in Google maps and checked location at which point I had to enable location services and it now seems to work properly .
Just checked my nfc it works now (my GPS only just started working) so perhaps try stopping nfc related stuff restart phone and re enable nfc?

Thank your for your reply. Have you tried to use the NFC with Google Pay or Android Beam or to read NFC tags (contactless credit card, etc...)?
Actually I tried almost everything I can:
None of these helped, Sony advised me to send back my phone, however they refused to give any more details of this issue.
Could you please check your exact version?
My version is:
I just used it to detect my contactless card, and my watch,
(I don't actually use NFC for anything)
also same version of sofwtare
Same problem here for the GPS signal...
Will Sony do something to fix this bug?
I haf the same issue today with latest official software. I found advise to clear google maps cache and to turn off battery optimization for google maps and location services, restarted phone and I got gps fix in seconds. Please try and give feedback if it helped you or not
