I've got more information about this and this is by design and to avoid heat and battery drain. Modifying the phones software to have it at 100% for longer periods is not recommend. This type of modification may damage the phone.

ok, I made a ilustration about problem... I turn on camera app, select "flashlight" and LED work on cca 30% from real LED power... if I set to "fill flash" mode LED work on 100% power

if I turn on LED from anyone LED app from google play LED still work only on 30% Slightly_frowning_Face

100% fill flash.JPG

Does not the volume control on the side of the phone affect the lights output? Only quessing.

No my guess is wrong as the volume control has no effect. Sorry for misleading you.

I'm not sure but i think this is by design and that the LED is not made to be on at that brightness for longer periods. I will try to find more information about it.

LED is not made for long lighting? this is funny Grinning_Face LED in my old xperia T look the same as Z3C... I use xperia T LED everyday so I think that are only for save battery life maybe when recording 4K to prevent overheating... LED must work on 100% everytime and everywhere Slightly_smiling_Face

I don't know for sure, but I think this applies for explaining why and how to solve this "issue".

http://www.phonearena.com/news/How-to-boost-the-LED-flash-brightness-of-your-Sony-Xperia-Z1-Z1C-and-...

Anyway I personally wouldn't take this risk just to boost the light...

I tested LED on xperia Z3C and has a 3 type of intensity
1. when recording video or using flashlight with any app on google play - cca 30%
2. when focusing before shoot - I mean 100%
3. when shooting - I mean 110-120%

btw xperia T have first two function at the same intensity, when shooting more than 100%

today I will test on lux meter what is true

thanks dquilon I'll check it
