How do I factory reset with PCC without having to unlock the screen?

I work at a smartphone repair store and I have a customer with an xperia z3 compact.

Screen is not cracked, but touch is not responsive at all.

I want to try resetting data before I order the screen and do a new screen installation.

I'm having an issue of not being able to connect to PCC because I can't unlock the screen.

To reset without unlocking : performing a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

I was able to factory reset following your instructions. Touch screen is still unresponsive so I am going to replace the digi next.

I'm having the same issue with my z3c, display and everything is ok, only touchscreen is unresponsive. Is it possible to replace the digitizer only? Or do I need to replace the lcd display as well?

Here in Bangladesh, I've taken it to some servicing centers and they are saying that entire display(lcd+digi) need to be replaced. Would you please let me know how yours one got repared?

i tried to reset my z1 but when i take it off anf hold down the volume down to insert the usb it started loading then it said sony erricson updae engine error (303)
what do i do

Hi,

It seems to be perfect but I have one question before doing this:
It's written that we need our Google account and password, without I will never be able to use my phone, but will I have to enter this informations on my computer or on my mobile ? Because, my z5c is broken (the screen doesn't work at all), so I can't put my account and password on it.
(I apologise for my english a bit too "school", I'm French, if you don't understand something ask me)

@kyuss The account info must be inserted on your device. If the screen is broken, what you can do is to buy a USB OTG cable, which allows you to connect a mouse and use the device.
