Messaging has stopped working

So i just got my xperia z5 back from repairs and i transfered all of my things from my temporary phone, but on my actual phone the z5 i cant text because it always comes up with "sorry messaging has stopped working" please help there are people i really want to text but cant

I'm sorry to hear about that.

Which phone did you transfer the data from and how did you transfer it?

I would recommend that you clear data for the Messaging application. Clearing the data will not delete any text messages, it will only reset the data for the application. Go to Settings > Apps > Messaging > Storage > Clear data. Start the app as you normally would do. Does it work to open up and read the text messages now?

If the same error message appears could you please try and download another messaging application from Google Play store, for example Google messenger or similar to see if you can open up that application and read the text messages that you restored from your temporary phone.

Thanks, i got google messaging and it worked, but now i cant use gmail on it either, i have no idea what that problem would be

Now when I try to log into ANYTHING it says "google play has stopped working" at first I was really excited to finally have my phone back but now it's just unusable

That sounds strange.

Could you please try and remove your Google account from your phone, restart the phone as normal and add the Google account again. To remove the Google account go to Settings > Accounts > Google > 3 dots in the upper right corner > Remove account.

To add the account again go to Settings > Accounts > "Add account" > Google.

Do you still get the same error message?

If you do I would recommend reset the data for the Google Play services application since there might be some corrupt data. Open up Settings > Apps > Google Play services > Storage > Manage Space > Clear all data.

I'm having the say problem I got the Sony XA1 for Christmas and returned it cause it was saying messaging stopped working so I love the phone so I got the Sony XA1 ultra yesterday first I would watch videos and the sound would cut out and now it won't let me open my messages again think I'm gonna have to return it again maybe get a Galaxy. Phone 😢
