Power button problem

Hi

since today I have a problem with the power button. I can push it, but nothing will happen. It doesn´t matter how hard I push it.

I have to push it several times before I can use my mobile (it is not off, it´s in "sleep mode" or whatever you call it)

Thanks for all suggestions

Yep, same thing happening to my Z1, only had it 6 weeks.

Started infrequently but now more common. Takes a good 10 seconds sometimes to wake up after pressing the power button. How much worse will it get?

Hrrrm... the same thing just started happening to my week-old Xperia. That is very disappointing.

I have this issue and I'm praying it is fixed with the KitKat update (whenerver that appears)

So, I just got, what I tought, would be my new, perfect phone !

I used Sony Xperia x10 mini for YEARS and the only issue I started having just recently was the fact I could not continue my calls <would hang up on it's own>

I decided to upgrade, and being as I am (was?) a rather loyal customer, I chose Sony Xperia Z1 Compact - all the reviews were SO positive, another big dog in Sony's family! Paid, what was for me, quite a lot of money and got this little precious.

It was fine for a week.

All the problems you are mentioning started at the same time- delay in turning on/off screen with the on/off button, screen off and do not comes back while on the call, phone just seems to be 'thinking' about working.

Now, my system updates are up-to-date, so this clearly did not help. I am going through all the threads in here that mentioned the same problems, but cannot seem to find the actual LONG LASTING SOLUTION.

Would I have to switch for the phones I don't really want to own?

Please, tell me there's an ACTUAL solution. I am quite happy with most of this phone functions and I do not want to leave Sony just because of little, but extremely annoying bugs.

Hope there will be some help coming!

Right now.the best thing to do is download power button app and use the camera button to kick it on them home screen yeah.I.know it **bleep** but what can you do to turn it on?

Try to use the camera button to let it turn on then press home.button Sony didn't not include a lock button or some kind of button where you can keep pressing. For example take a look at my old phone the Samsung. S4 right it has a home.press button so you can have two options power button or home press button. Try it out on Google play store asap

I received yesterday an update for 4.4.4. I immediately installed it and the power button issue went away.... I also had the same issue when I was receiving an sms, it could take more then 10 seconds to open up sms application. Now it all went away... Fingers crossed it stays like this!

PS im from belgium, maybe you need to wait for the 4.4.4 update if it is not released for your country yet...

I have got the same annoying problem since a couple of month and was hoping that the latest KitKat upgrade would reset and fix the phone! But it didn't...

I hate to break it to you guys but I think its a hardware issue... the good thing is its very easy to fix..

It is the loose contact of the Power Button/Volume connector element.

I did not check this by opening the back of the tablet but by pressing the back pretty firmly but carefully next to the Power Button (its plastic). Now my Power Button works again!

The problem is that the connector for the volume and power button are one in the same unit. Seems that the movement created by pressing the power or volume button will make the connector pop out of place. So it happens when the connector is loose, maybe even about to come off the board. Simply push it back into place – I had no problems since. Hope this helps you guys.
