Problem transferring contacts to my Z1

I have used Sony Bridge for Mac to import my contacts stored from my old phone, google account, address book, etc. and used the contacts setup to organise these. I can see them all clearly in Sony Bridge. This seems to have been done successfully as I have had a message saying they are now available on my Android device (Z1). However, although I have synced my phone to my google account, I can't see any of my contacts listed in the phone contacts menu! The strange thing is if one of my contacts calls my new phone, their name and details appear in the caller id, making believe the contacts are indeed on the phone, yet when I try and find a name or contact, it's as if they are not stored. Can anyone help with this - I am obviously doing something wrong...

Open the phonecontacts > menu > filter > gmail

Thanks - this did indeed solve the problem! So simple, yet I wouldn't have thought to click on the filter option...
