Replacing LCD screen / Issues with support

First I'd like to start off that I love the Z1 compact and this is my first sony phone. I'm definitely going to get a sony as my next phone but I wish supprt could be a little bit more helpful.

I have recieved water damage causing the pixels in the corner of my screen to look defective. Phone still functions normally. You can see in this picture here: http://i.imgur.com/VhkIUVv.jpg

The other day I took a picture under water and everything went fine. I brought the phone just below the surface of the pool and made sure no ports were open.

Hours later that day, the top left corner of my screen started to mess up. The damaged spot slowly grew in size and wrosen over the next couple days up to what you see in the picture, which is what it looks like now as I'm typing this.

I called sonys support and explained the situation and their first step is that they send you steps to run a "Software Repair"

I was more than willing to run this repair until I relized this would update my firmware to Lollipop when I still have KitKat.

For many reasons I want to keep kitkat on my phone.

Now they give me option and instructions to send it to their facility to be evaluted and decide if they would repair it or not. If it was users fault they would send it back to me as is. If not, they would either replace the parts or send me a new phoen entirely, but they would still update the firmware.

I DO NOT want Lollipop and this process from when i ship the phone to when It's returned to me fixed or not can take up to 24 days from what I was told on the phone.

So this is started to lead me to other plans of action, to fix it myself or take it to a repair shop locally.

From what I was told on the phone with Sony support:

Q: Is there someone their who could speak to me on the phone to walk me through the steps on how to replace the parts, like a tech?

A: No

-I have yet to find any factory guide/manuals on how to do this, only 3rd party sources (which is not a big deal)

Q: Can you guys suggest where I should buy my replacement parts or do you sell them?

A: No

-I know the parts are sold everywhere on the internet but theres a risk when buying parts from these 3rd party sellers.

Q: Do you guys have the stock firmware for KitKat available to download so i can downgrade if needed?

A: No

-Why not? Theres still a bunch of useful apps still unstable with Lollipop and many topics on this support forum seems to be users having issues with Lollipop.

Now in attempt to starting a discussion with users and sony support in hopes to figure how I should go about fixing my screen with as little money as possible.

Not quite, you can use a hair dryer and make sure to buy the double sided tape.
