Hi there,
When I connect to a wifi network from my Sony Xperia Z1 compact, does the data package that I pay for monthly automatically turn off? It seems that this would be a sensible thing to do. If it doesn't automatically turn off, how can I make sure that happens?
Thanks!

As soon as your phone (any smartphone, as I'm aware) takes data from a Wi-Fi connection, the network data stops sending/receiving. It is not really off, but it turns to 0/0. So, when it needs data and can't find it from Wi-Fi, it will start hooking to it again.
Hope my answer is accurate
You should have quick access if you drag down the notification bar with 2 fingers, there is mobile data.
That is also true, from what I know, the strongest connection remains. But to be sure about data, disable it.
I find that switching back from wifi to mobile data doesn't seem to work. Which is for me annoying, I'm currently lucky in having an unlimited mobile data plan for my phone.
I have to manually change from wifi to mobile and back as the auitomatic option when selected doesn't work.
