Hello guys

my Xperia Z is not booting up....it is victim of sudden death...

i have also tried the Cold Start" with ON+VOL UP andwhile doing so the indication light flashes red in colour 3 times and then nothing happnes..

i have also tried to keep phone on charging for over 30 mins and tired the same still no success....

can anyone suggest what can be issue and how can i solve this.

this sudden death has occure 3rd time in last 2 months and i have latest firmware in my phone.

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

You can still run a repair with the phone powered off, just ensure you start the process with the phone unplugged and do not plug it till the last step:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

I am facing the same issue, uanble to understand the solution provided by you.

Please correct my understanding:

1. Need to install PC Companion software on computer as per process given by you

2. then plug mobile phone to compute and run repair process

3. Will it work in dead mode?

You may need to perform a software repair using PC Companion.The process will erase all internal memory.You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 60% battery.

Make sure the device is not connected to computer or laptop and turned off (sometimes you have to press power button and volume up until the device vibrates 3 times or on some devices you have to press the small button near the SIM tray or on the back of the device).

Open PC companion->support zone->phone/tablet software update->repair my phone/tablet blue highlighted.Follow the steps given,do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable. If PC companion does not start the repair process, you might need to run it in compatibility mode with Windows 7 (in some cases XP).

Follow exactly the steps above.

I have a Z3 and I have two problems with this, My phone is not taking charge at all.IT IS DEAD. occasionally I will get the sony symbol for a split second or the battery in the red in a loop but that is it. I can not get charge into my phone. I have done every type of reset known to man from The power and volume soloution, to the off button next to the sim. Nothing has worked. the phone was only 2 months old when this happened. I also own a mac and PC companion is a windows based OS so where do I stand. Am I stuck with a brand new brick or is there a solotion??????

To anyone wanting to follow these instructions, please charge your phone for a good couple of hours and try to start it normally first. Sometimes this handset acts like this when there is low charge. Following these instructions will result in losing your data.

I had same problem, Remove sim card AND memory card, try booting, if it boots up like normal, replace sim card, it will reboot, if it works its THE MEMORY CARD. Memory card can get corrupted, in my case i was able to fix memory card and reinsert in phone
