Hi, I want to buy a Xperia phone (because of the glorious X-reality, (Yes, I love that over-saturated and vivid colors) I have owned other Xperia phones in the past, and I have realized that I cannot live without it. ).

I have been considering a nice phone in the range of $200-300USD.

Now in this range I have found the Z3+ to be around $220, and the X and Z5 around $300.

My question is Do you think that the Xperia X or Z5 it's worth the extra money over the Z3+?

The X has 6 cores, that is less than the 8 of the Z3+ and Z5, but it has two A72 and four A53 against four A57 and four A53 of the Xperia Z3+ and Z5. But the Z3+ and Z5 have the infamous SP 810, I dont care about the temperature (My actual phone ocasionally hits 70ºC because it's decacore) but I care about perfomance, firstly in the video playback (I use to play software decoded HEVC and H.264 Hi10p and H.264 Hi@L5) and secondarily in emulator games.

At least in bechmarks it seems that the Z3+ and Z5 can hit a higher score that the X. But the X has a better GPU. All three have Android 7 and I hope that both Z3+ and Z5 can be upgraded (since both have the same chipset) to the next android update. And the three phones have 3Gb of RAM. I don't really care about the cameras and video recording, I'm only concerned of the video playback (I use VLC and MX player for SW decoding). Oh, and last What do you think about the Xperia Z3+ speaker?

Summarizing:

Do you think that the Xperia X it's better than the Z5 and Z3+? If it does, Is it worth the extra $100 bucks? If not, Is the Xperia Z5 worth the $100 bucks over the Z3+ perfomance-wise (I don't care about the camera)? If not, then Would you recommend me the Z3+?

Out of any Xperia phone available as of today, and I own all of them since the Z version 1, I would say Xperia X compact is my favorite to use and in many cases feels faster and smoother than ever my XZ... but compared to the Z5 family, I prefer the Z3+ / Z4 for sure.

From form factor and in hand feel to screen vibrancy, how colors look, the UI, I feel like the Xperia Z4 was always the ultimate version of Xperia. That's just me.

Battery is much improved, no heating ( I do not play games ).

The only drawback being perhaps the camera at night.

That said, while smaller, I must say I am super happy with X compact and end up using it more than my z4 these days, especially days in Tokyo when I am going from meeting to meeting with no chance to recharge all day. The battery seems to last forever and the camera is a big step up. But if X compact is too small for your needs, IMO Z4 is amazing.
