So, Hi Guys, this is just a bit of review after updating my Xperia Z5 Compact (E5823), I actually waited a long time for the update,. as our region (South east asia) was behind 4 updates,. but then it skipped all rest and updated straight to the .33 update.
1. still snappy
2.updated UI (it displays time and date on the quick toggles shade)
3.Object tracking default in camera
4. march 2017 security update
5. battery is meh. maybe a little bit on the short side
6. X reality image engine is tad more punchy ,,, well good for those who wants more contrast, but I have to turn off cause it makes youtube videos super vivid
7. sound is actually a bit more louder,. balanced.
8. fingerprint scanner is now awesome. 9/10 success rate.
9. google now swipe from left pane
10. no goodies from new Xzs series,. bummer (I have to sideload the loops theme and xperia clock widgets)
11. record screen is still present on the power menu
12. small apps still present albeit hidden
13.only small impact on ram from 1.3 to 1.4gb
14. no camera goodies from XZ series. ( manual focus and shutter speed)
15. camera is snappy, quality is still very good during daylight,
16.Xperia keyboard is still the best
17. no other bugs so far...
so feel free to ask some questions regarding the update if you are still unwilling to update. or if you like to have additional screenshot or want me to try some features...
TIP for a bug free experience: after installing the update from XPERIA COMPANION, I immediately performed software repair . not even turning the device on after the initial update..
@Bhonder: I test it with my portable bluetooth speaker, and it works as it should. though I much prefer listening thru wired headphones because I use the DSEE HX settings
It's seems to be a software's lottery case: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z5/help/bug-sony-xperia-z5-headphone-jack-t3308014
If I set DSEE HX on the static sound goes away only from Music app: other ones are still working bad. So it's definitively a software issue. Maybe it's inherent only to some production batches.
I will give a shot to Nougat in the following weeks, if you tell me that your battery is starting to behave.
@Bhonder: i read the link you gave, it seems that they are on still on the previous updates. and yes I always have the dseeHX on at all times, never touched the settings since I configured it the first time,. I agree that it may be because of some production batches,. I always buy my devices at a later date, so I guess I got lucky,,
regarding the battery though. I think you might not be happy about it, it seems it wont last a day if you are a moderate to heavy user... I am contemplating in disabling the charge optimazation but I usually only use the device for radio/and music player so I guess It is okay. but I wish it was as before...
these are the issues ive found (well for the australian release anyway)
when opening the email inbox emails, sometimes they show up blank and you have to go out and go back in to get it to open
the call app used for calling people sometimes shows the wrong image for phone numbers. again if you go out and go back in the correct image shows.
the messaging app once in a while shows "ghost" or blank sms's. again if you go out and go back into the app they dissapear.
the album app takes ages...literaly say 15 seconds or more to render a image.
im hoping the next update isnt too far away, otherwise im rolling back to MM
Thank you for your support for Sony Xperia.
We are sorry for the problems you encountered with your Xperia Z5 Compact.
With regard to the malfunction reported by you in hands-free mode, our support has already provided you with instructions for troubleshooting with e-mail
Regarding the lock / shutdown and sudden restart of your smartphone, we suggest you take the following steps / controls:
- Turn off and reset your device.
-You can force the device to restart or shut down when it locks or does not restart normally. Personal settings and data will not be deleted during the forced reboot
1. Open the SIM card cover and the memory card slot.
2. Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold the OFF button for a few seconds.
3. After the device has emitted three rapid vibrations, release the OFF button and the device will turn off automatically.
At this point you just have to try restarting your Xperia z5 by pressing the power button until it vibrates
-If the forced reboot does not work, try the restart procedure for 2 minutes
1. Open the SIM card cover and the memory card slot.
2. Using the tip of a pen or similar object, press and hold the OFF button for 120 seconds (two minutes) ignoring any vibration, then release the OFF button.
3. Load the device until the recharge icon is displayed on the screen.
4. Activate the device.
-Remove the SIM card:
Remove the SIM card and restart the terminal. If the malfunction does not resume, it means the problem is due to the damaged SIM card. Please contact your network operator for a new SIM.
-Remove SD Card:
If there is a memory card in the device, remove and restart the device. Removing the memory card will solve the problem, probably the SD card is damaged. In this case you will need to obtain a replacement SD card for your Xperia ™ device.
- If the problem occurs while the terminal is charging, check that the accessories used for powering the product (USB cable and power adapter) are Sony originals.
- Check if the problem occurs with the terminal in safe mode:
In this mode the phone works (will start) with the original software and the preset applications. If you notice a performance improvement, some recently downloaded applications cause the problem and need to be uninstalled. Follow this procedure to start your phone in 'Safe mode' mode:
1) With the phone switched on, press and hold the ON / OFF button on / off.
2) In the window that opens, without leaving the ON / OFF key, at the same time press "Exit" until "Restart in Safe Mode" does not appear.
3) OK to activate it.
4) To exit the 'temporary' mode, simply restart your phone.
- Make sure you have the latest software available on your device.
