Hi, I would like to get a battery replacement for my Xperia Z1 (C6906) (bought around Sept 2013 from Rogers). The battery fails to hold charge and would automatically shutdown (jump from 100% to 0%) whenever the phone is not plugged in. This problem persisted since April 2016 but it has gotten unusable lately. I cannot keep my phone on long enough to even make a call. I have already performed a factory reset, updated to the latest firmware and calibrated the battery but the problem remains.
In addition, there is a also a vibration motor defect (had this problem ever since I bought the phone) resulting in a "squeaking" sound whenever the phone vibrates. If possible, I would like to fix this with the battery problem altogether.
To whom should I contact? Is there an actual email address I can contact Sony with?
(I have tried contacting Sony Canada through http://support.sonymobile.com/ca-en/contactUs/ but Start Chat leads to a 400 Bad Request Error while the Email Us option remains stuck upon clicking Send. Same results with different browsers.)
have you tried calling customer support in your country?
or if you brought the device with your network maybe they can replace it.
Hi @reventon_703,
I am not sure what may be wrong with the chat and email functionality. I recommend you give them a call.
I have found the contact information for Sony Canada here:
Monday to Sunday : 08:00 - 23:00 EST
+1 1 866 766 9374 (Toll Free)
Thanks for the quick reply! I have filed a case for repair.
Just another question, I was told to remove all accessories before shipping the phone to the repair centre, in particular:
- Battery cover (if removable)
- Battery (if removable)
- SIM card/SIM card adapters/memory stick or microSD card (if applicable)
- Removable front faceplates (if applicable - refer to User Guide)
- Wrist bands/straps/belt hooks (if applicable)
Does this apply to screen protector as well? I have 2 tempered glass screen protector attached (one on the front, one on the back) and I am afraid it would be quite difficult to remove (the adhesion is strong). Should I attempt to remove them regardless? Or just the back? (as I understand a battery replacement for the Z1 would require prying around the back cover)
It depends entirely on the local repair centre. In some cases it may not be possible to salvage the screen protector. I recommend you ask your local support team if this would be necessary.
I have also met same problem. My phone is not work last year. And I just bought a vibration motor from
Baolong. Then the phone was workable again.
