Hello everyone, My wife dropped her Z5 Compact and craked the screen during the eclipse here in the US. I first contacted Sony support in the US and they said that the repair center was in the process of being moved and they would notify me when it reopens, but since it was out of warranty, I could try a local repair center. I first took it to ubreakifix, they kept it a week and then called me to say they couldn't get the screen so I needed to come pick it up. I then called GadgetPros to see if they could fix it, and the guy assured me he had several suppliers for this device and it would not be a problem. After he had it 1 1/2 weeks, and never called me, I stopped by. He said he got the part in and couldn't make it fit right and in the process cracked the lcd. He refunded my money. I called best buy, even though I did not buy it there because I had recently purchased a new XZ Premium from them. The guy on the phone said it wouldn't be a problem and scheduled an appointment for me. When I got to the store, I was informed they could not without a service plan on the phone. I then started a chat with sony support again to see if they might be up and running yet. The support guy was absolutely no help. He told me they don't do that kind of repair, and when I tried to get him to help me find a solution, he just said "Find another repair center" Is there any options for me to get this repaired? I am a longtime Sony user, I had sony-erricson cellphones before smart phones, and even bought the first xperia phone they made.
Yeah I'd also like to know. I live in Sweden and my daughter dropped mine. The screen is cracked and unusable however, the phone works fine. Wonder also what it would cost to get Sony to replace the screen.
They're not too difficult to disassemble and reassemble. The difficult part is IP rating integrity. You won't get it unless your home work bench is kitted out with the correct equipment, and you have proficient technical ability.
Do not expect IP68 after a home job. Don't expect it from a non official repair centre either, unless it's written and covered by their warranty.
