SR11 Handycam help plz

Hi can anybody hepl me please?

I want to transfer my movies from the camcorder to my laptop. I have downloaded PlayMemoriesHome. I plugged the camcorder into laptop with the usb. I clicked on the usb connect, it then says preparing and nothing else happens. I have tried this on every usb port on the laptop & on 2 different laptops.

Would appreciate any help please.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Lorraine,

Welcome to the community.

I'll look into this for you and see if I can find out. Someone else in the community may be able to advise in the meantime.

Thanks,

Pascale

Hi sizeate,

Is the model number of the camera HDR-SR11E?

Sorry for the late reply, I had trouble signing back in.

Yes the camcorder is a SR11. I have tried a different usb and was successful. I then burnt a disc of my videos but am now unable to play it either on my laptop or dvd player.

Where am I going wrong?

Hi @sizeate,

did you write HD videos to your DVD? If so this could be the reason for your trouble as e.g. DVD (!) players simply are not able to play back HD content. You'd need a Blue-Ray-Player instead.

Additionally even a Blue-Ray-Player might not be able to play back those movies but that's very much dependent on the player's capabilities.

You'll find a bit more information on page 60 of this PDF file (bottom left, see "Attention").

Well, I could start a longer explanation now but before I do so I'd need to know what you actually did (e.g. writing HD content (AVCHD) to DVD or not).

It might take some time but finally we'll be getting somewhere, I'm sure

Cheers

Hi @darkframe @darkframe

Yes that seems to be exactly what I've done! Hmm, so is there a way to get my movies to a dvd as im making a collection of old home movies for my dad.  He doesn't have a blue ray player.
