How to get an SD card recognised by reader PC?

I just inserted a sandisk 16GB card into my PRS-T1 and I have told it to format it and told it to download to the SD card but when I open up Reader for PC it isn't showing up alongside my reader. and not downloading books onto it either. what am I doing wrong??

Hi Penni.

I had tried to do the same: PRS-T1 + microSDHC SanDisk Ultra 16Gb

And I have no problems.

But, as writes in the manual: (PRS-T1 Manual - Notes on microSD Cards)

“…microSD cards of up to 32 GB has been tested to work with the Reader; however, not all microSD cards are guaranteed to work…”

First of all you have to be sure that the microSD is without problems. Just control it on PC, by copying e deleting some files.

Then don’t forget!!! (PRS-T1 Manual - microSD Card)

“…It may take a while for the Reader to detect the microSD card and load all files stored on it. Wait a little longer after inserting the microSD card to the card slot…”

And if the microSD Card is full of files, you have to wait a lot of time

Don’t forget even that: (PRS-T1 Manual - Maximizing Battery Life)

“Power-consuming operations

The following may require more power than normal reading operations.

  • Using a microSD card
  • Frequent insertion and removal of a microSD card
  • Having a large volume of content stored on a microSD card
  • ….”
Non mi aspetto nulla. Non temo nulla. Sono libero. - I hope for nothing. I fear nothing. I am free.   (N.K.)
