DAV-DZ810W Sound System Connectivity

This model must be over 12 years old.

Does anybody have this system and succeeded in getting it to work with Sky Q?

It doesn't appear on Sky's drop-down list, but on 'set-up', the volume button for the sound system works on 'option 9', but no sound from the speakers.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Sony Community.

I'll look into this for you and will update the thread if I find the answer.  In the meantime, perhaps another member of the community may be able to advise you.

Best wishes,

Hi Uniquename,

I'm just wondering how are both devices connected? Is it via HDMI or via optical? Also, have you tried connecting the sound system to your TV instead of the sky box?

Cheers,

Thank-you for your input.

The Sony sound system is connected to the Sony TV via a HDMI cable.

The Sky Q box is connected to the TV via a HDMI cable.

I have spoken with Sony Support two days running with no success so far!

Thanks

You can get audio from your system just by reading a DVD or by connecting, TV or Sky Q, via Optical, Coaxial or Analog cable. I fear that for what will be the TV and Sky Q connections, you can only connect Sky Q via Optical alternating with the TV (or even connect the TV but you only have the Analogue, from the TV headphone output).

Thank-you all for your input.

I now have an optical cable connecting the Sky Q box with the surround sound system.

The system now works on ‘ line 1 ‘ on the DVD player running programmes on Sky.

The local electricians seemed to think I didn’t need to use this method, but hey-ho at least I now have the surround sound when required.

Problem now solved.
