No Sound From New Sound Bar

Hi,

I hope someone here can help.

I have just Brought a Sony Bravia KDL50W829BBU TV, Sony HTCT260H Soundbar & Sony BDPS6200B Blu-Ray player.

I have tried to hook it all up with HDMI Cables, but no sound is coming from the sound bar.

HDMI 1     Sky Box

HDMI 2     Sound Bar (this is marked as the ARC slot)

HDMI 3     Blu-Ray Player

When I turn on the sound bar, the tv detects it and cuts the sound to the built in speakers, but no sound from the sound bar.  I have tried turning it up, so I know it's not as simple as the sound being turned right down.  I have tried to look at the tv menu but can't see anything there, but as it cuts the internal speakers it doesn't seem right that that be the problem.

Can anyone help?  Have I got myself a faulty sound bar? or am I just missing something really obvious?

Thanks in advance

Hi there

Appoligies for the 'later' reply.

I think your problem lies in the "Settings" of the Soundbar itself.

  1. Press the "AMP" menu on the CT260H remote control
  2. Scroll down until you find "Audio" and press arrow across
  3. Scroll down to "TV Audio" and press arrow across.
  4. Select "TV(HDMI)" as the option.  By default, the setting is "Optical"
  5. Once set, exit out of the AMP menu
  6. Select the "Input" source on the Remote control and choose "TV(HDMI)"
  7. And that should be it.

See pages 18 and 25 of the manual : HERE for more information (or better instructions).

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

I have allready stumbled accross a solution, thanks to another thread here with the same soundbar and same model but different size tv.

Odd that the TV (HDMI) option isn't one of thge options that appear when you first turn it on.
