VPL-VW760ES Home Cinema Projector

Apart from not being able to register my purchase on here my Projector was delivered on Wednesday and last night we watched our first true 4K movie Inferno, I have to be honest and say that this projector is awsome and although a little fiddly to get set just so with respect to picture geometry ( I am no pro cinema installer) the end result was worth the effort. This is one truely fantastic projector.

I just hope I will be able to register it soon.

Welcome to the community. Glad you're enjoying your new projector!

Can you tell me more about what happens when you try to register it?

Hi There,

I was sent this email content when I used teh contact Sony team about registering my projector. It is absolutely amazing have everything working correctly now and my wife gave me the ultimate compliment on Sunday after watching the Blue Planet 2 from normal BBC1  HD TV transmission, we watched standard Blu Ray The Girl On The Train at the end of which Lynne said " if a film was released tomorrow I would sooner pay box office to dowload it and watch it here than go to a cinema including tSouthampton's new 4k one" a true compliment.

Sony's responce.

Hi kenny.garrick,

Welcome to our community!

I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase. That particular model is of superb quality as it's actually a professional product and not a normal consumer product as Sony support has mentioned.

You'll find its page on the Sony professional products website here. Regarding registering your projector, I don't think you'll be able to register it using your MySony account as it's a professional product so it won't be showing in the list of available products. You can register it for prime support for free here.

I bought the vw760es about six months ago. I have not yet registered the product, but I ultimately will.

My experience with the projector is... I have owned three different projectors the last year. Sony 55ES, JVC x5900, and now the vw760es.

The vw760es is simply the best bang for the buck taking all factors in consideration, if one can afford it. jvc x5900 is the technical parameter king vs. money. But we didn't like the movie feeling. It looked great... It looked great. The experience was so-so. This is hard to put in words. Me and my family are not watching a movie with ISF calibration tools next to the popcorn bag! (even though our projectors 'been calibrated).

Yes, the 760 is not a 5000, but the 5000 is for people that mainly require the extra lamp power. Stacking the 5000? well, there's a ton of writing about using tone mapping and a lumagen to sort out low light and hdr... Costly, but cost efficient at the same time. Not sure this post make sense on this forum but I had to mention it. Check avsforum.

Me and the family just LOVE the vw760es. The 55es looked "filmic", the x5900 did not, even though it beat the old 55 on all  technical parameters. The 760 beats them all, including the most important aspect: it's "filmic". I'm trying to convey in words that it's hard to describe a feeling of watching a movie. Technical parameters are not the end of it all. It's about the experience of watching the movie. Some other companies/projectors can beat a sony in tech parameters like better contrasts, etc. But I have yet to find a projector in this price range that beats a sony.

PS. Isn't it ironic the old 55es sony beat the brand new 4k UHD x5900 JVC in "feeling". We all enjoyed the old sony more than the newer jvc as it felt we watched a film rather than a tech benchmark show-off.

I wished everyone had viewed the 760es.... If you haven't, check it out as; again, it's the sony item out there with the best image for the buck!!!

I have to say, I'm not employed by sony or have any relation to the company, but:   way to go SONY!!!!
