Checking connection w/external speakers / Sky Q

Morning,

Hoping someone can help as I'm pretty much at the end of my tether.

I have the following set up:

TV: Sony Bravia KDL-40LX903

Home Theatre: Sony HT-XT1

Sky Q

All has been working fine for a number of years until the last couple of weeks. I press the button on the Harmony remote to start the activity to watch TV. Everything turns on as normal, after a second the TV screen goes black (normal) and 'checks the connection with external audio' and instead of coming back to the Sky Q home screen it stays black. The Sky Q box has frozen and the only way to sort it out is to unplug and wait for it to reboot. At present this is happening almost every time we turn the TV on.

I have spoken to Sony and to Sky and they both have the same line. Our system seems to be working perfectly/as it should, it must be a problem with your Sony/Sky box/tv/amp etc etc.

Usually I can sort these things out myself but so far I am drawing a blank. Are there any suggestions as to what is causing this or what I can try to sortit out?

TIA

Hi @ApplePearO

Sky Q updated its software a couple of weeks ago so may have introduced some compatibility issues. A few things you can try or check.

1. I assume you are connected Sky Q -> HT-XT1 -> KDL-40LX903. Have you tried Sky Q -> KDL-40LX903 (HDMI4) then KDL-40LX903 (HDMI1 ARC) to HT-XT1 (HDMI Out ARC).

2. Try changing the audio on the Sky Q to Normal. Home - Settings - Setup - Audio Visual - Digital Audio output HDMI - Normal.

3. Check the Picture resolution on the Sky Q box is 1080i. Same menu as above or shortcut Using your Sky Q remote Home - 1 - 0 - 8 - 0 - Home.

Let us know how you get on.

I should add that if you try (1.) then you need to rerun your Harmony Activity to change the inputs TV (HDMI 4 or whatever you choose) and Amp (TV).

HI @LightFoot

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

I'll try this when I get home tonight and feedback!
