VGA PC to TV and 3.5 mm to component audio sound problem

Hi, hopefully someone can help me here.

I am trying to stream LoveFilm movies through my laptop to my TV. I have connected as follows....

VGA to VGA on the PC to TV connection. As this is only a video connection I have also connected a 3.5mm to component audio cable between the pc headphone jack and the component audio input of the Bravia tv.

When I play a video on the pc/tv I can get a picture but no sound. I have selected PC input on the tv External Inputs list. I have tested the audio connection by playing a cd on the laptop and selecting COMPONENT from the External Input rather than PC....and that works...I can hear the sound (obviously there is then no picture). So I am convinced all my cables and connections are correct....but I need to combine VGA video with COMPONENT audio connections. How do I do that? I have already set PC Audio Input to PC on the Settings->Sound menu. What else can I try?

Thanks to anyone with any ideas,

Rick
