Video Files Format for Sony KDL40R473

I've received this Sony Bravia KDL40R473 today, i tried to plug in a usb stick of 16gb FAT32 with 2 video files a .mkv file and a mp4 file but non of them are recognized by the tv... quite disappointing, what file formats are supported? I can't find anything on sony website either on the specifiction page it doesn't say anything about support formats.

Does anybody knows which formats are supported?

Hi there

Unfortunately I cannot find out the exact file formats that are supported (either in the specifications or manual).  However what I do know is that very little file formats are supported. 

According to the manual:

Therefore I conclude that the USB port is not designed for outside media files other that what is stated above.  You must also bare in mind that this is the budget range tv, therefore certain features will be excluded.
