can i disable SZ1XP Piep-Sounds

Hello,
i´ve bought the VAIO SZ1XP and its the best notebook ive ever had.
But one thing disturbs me, every time i chance the tft brightness or i lower the audio volume the notebook makes piep. and when i boot it it makes some sounds to. I need to disable it, because when i´am in the university it is not good if i make some noise.
Can somebody help me to solve this? the normal sound deactivation in windows dosen´t help at the sounds when iam booting.

Greetings

Hi Master_BB - welcome to the Club!

There are several ways to mute your computer.

I find the easiest way is to go to Device Manager and disable the Sigmatel CXD9872 Codec. This way it is easy to restore the sound without changing too many settings.

I expect someone else will suggest a better method.

Hi Master_BB and welcome to the forum.

Locate and delete, rename or move the PI.WAV file. Usual location is C:\Program Files\Sony\Hotkey Utility\pi.wav. This will remove that annoying beep sound.

Also in Notebook Control or Notebook Setup (model dependant) there should be an option to Show Vaio Logo, uncheck this to remove the boot sound.
