CD drive sound probs

Hi guys, HNY etc...

When I play certain audio CD's in the DVD-RW drive of my RZ424 the CD plays but there's lots of popping noises in the background, this will happen on only certain songs, and only some of the time! I first noticed it when ripping CDs using iTunes, the resulting MP3s had these noises.

Also, with both my DVD/CD drives, when I select 'play' on iTunes or Win Media Player or whatever, the CD spins up, slows down, spins up, slows down etc. and then eventually calms down. Particularly noticeable during ripping CDs to my PC. Is this normal?

Cheers...

Some tracks these days have vinyl crackle - it's funny, but not when you're trying to diagnose a problem.

Not sure what this could be!

Thanx KL...

Although the plot thickens. Just ripped the same CD using the other drive, and on playing back the MP3 tracks a few of them have this popping noise, so maybe it's both drives! Any idea what causes this popping noise, could it be interference in the background from some other program?

Try and rip at a slower speed, like 4x (I know audiograbber does this)
