COM3 / Serial Port Vaio PCG-K115B

Hi

There seems to be a COM3 port on my Vaio but I'm not sure which external connection/socket this refers to. That is I have an external MIDI card that has installed a driver and selected COM3 as the communications port.

Does anyone know how to find out which port it is, I'm guessing its referring to one of the USB sockets?

It could be your internal modem. If you check the phone & modem properties in control panel then you should be able to confirm this.

I'd have to agree with Rob, it's a virtual COM port for the modem and telephony services.
