Also,

i know the original memory which comes with this laptop is PC2-3200 400Mhz, however using crucail website amongst others to find compatable memory

each one of those website list PC4300 as compatable memory for my system.

someone help me, how can i solve it, as it is ive spent £140 ish on something which seems is doing nothing,
at this rate the 2 x 256 chips are gonna get put back in,

Don't worry! This is normal!

The memory is DDR (Double Data Rate) memory. This means that the memory actually runs at a frequency of 266Mhz but it uses both the up and down cycles of each wave and so works twice as fast as the actual frequency.

Everything is OK and your new modules are working at an effective rate of 533Mhz.

EDIT: If you measure the actual speed of your old DDR2 400 modules, they will show as running at 200Mhz.
