DVD RW DRIVE Non Detection

Hi there, can anyone tell me how to get my DVD RW drive back?

Windows (XP Home) has suddenly refused to recognise the DVD writer drive and will not allow me to enable it in the Device Manager, telling me that it is unable to do so!

What can I do now? Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Try uninstalling it. If you don't have any separate drivers for it, just uninstall the drive then reinstall Windows. It will be detected and reinstalled upon restart. If you do have a separate driver, have it to hand when it asks for the driver location.

Thanks for your reply Tyger Tyger.

I only have the Sony Vaio recovery disc and although there is a drivers folder on it, I have no idea which relates to the DVD RW drive!!

So I guess I'm going to have to contact Sony support, unless anyone out there knows which one I need.

Thanks again.
