DVD RW not recognising blank DVD

Problem number 2, guys

My Vaio has a built-in Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K12D.

When I put in a blank Phillips DVD+RW disc (4.7gb, 120 mins, 1-4x speed), my computer doesn't recognise it. It doesn't show up as being in the disc drive at all. Yet I have no problems with CD-Rs or normal DVDs.

Can anyone help?

If you open your Burning software does this enable you to see the DVD info..

What model vaio do you have?
