Ethernet Driver

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but here goes.

I am trying to connect my vaio vgn - s4m to the internet via an ethernet cable. When i had troubles doing this i contacted my cable provider thinking that it was a problem with my cable modem.

I have been told that the ethernet driver on my computer has not been installed. How do i do this?

Hi Ice Coach and welcome.

In Device Manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware tab > Device Manager) expand Network Adaptors, right click on Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection (or similar) and select Properties.
On the General tab check the device status which should say `this device is working properly¿. If you have a message that drivers are not installed then go to the Driver tab and install
Make sure that Device usage (General tab) is set to ¿Use this device (enable)¿
