going into safe mode with a wireless keyboard

How do I go into 'safe mode' with my VGC-RC204 ? I know the answer should be "Hit the F8 key" but because my keyboard is wireless, the thing has already booted up into 'normal' mode by the time the keyboard is functional. What do you think of utilities you can download such as "bootsafe" ?

Are you able to boot into the BIOS, press F2 repeatedly when you see the Sony logo..?

If so try pressing F5 and resetting the bios to default settings, then press F10 to save and try booting into safe mode again..

Are you sure it's F8 ?

Some Vaios are F5.
