Help with 5.1 sound from a Sony XL 100

How do you set up 5.1 sound

Im using pc digital out to a sony receiver STR-DB2000

The blue light comes on but no sound from my back speakers when playing a DVD

Using media centre and DVD win but no sound from back speakers

Can anyone help
