I SEARCH A VRU FRENCH VERSION FOR VAIO PCV-W2

Please help me.

I bought my W2 in germany but I need to use a french version. Sony support told me that such a French VRU is not sold by the company.

I need French VRU so that being able to later upgrade from french XP Home VRU to French XP Pro (I need all the original Vaio softwares in french version)

Hi MOLGAT,

If you install a other Windows version, then you couldn't install the SonySoftware which came with your VAIO.

You could only instal the drivers and utilities(which you would need) from VAIO-Link, SonicStage and PictureGearStudio.
You couldn't install VAIO-Zone, WinDVD etc.

And don't forget the burn your recovery DVDs.

The only thing you can do is buy Windows XP Professionel in France (it's not cheap!) and install that, but you might well loose a lot of the functionality of the W2, as you know, has specialist hardware.

Sorry - this cannot be done. The W1 and W2 are bought "country specific" and there is no program in place to allow change from one region to another. If you do use the commercial version of the Microsoft OS, you will loose 50% of the W1 and W2's functionality so I'd be VERY careful.

I bought a French Windows XP Pro CD. The only Sony softwares I want to use are Gigapocket and memory stick.

Where is it possible to find that on the VRU DVD ? Is there any specific location for such softwares on the DVD ?

If you can install it from the VRU it is under the "Restore Individual Applications" which if memory serves is the one option up from the bottom of the list.

My former original Vaio OS is german language Sony Windows XP Home, I want to install my full french Windows XP Pro (not upgrade) and being able to use Sony software. The Vaio cannot upgrade and want to format c in order to install French XP Pro. This means that my VRU is not usable (rutime error 70).

How can I install drivers and utilities from original VRU since it is not the same language version and OS ???

You can download the driver and utility package from VAIO-Link. They should be works, uninteresting which language.

I did install French Win XP Pro onto Vaio (When I boot, I can choose between Original Sony german XP Home or french XP Pro).

I succeded in installing drivers.

But I still cannot install the sony software. So I cannot use your link since it is uprgrade soft links and not install soft links.

I am fedup with that both Sony and Microsoft stupid policies which prevent you upgrading or changing native os.`

As an IT consultant, I will tell all my customers NOT TO BUY A SONY COMPUTER.
