Is my battery OK, IT is really hot, dam hot??

I have a PCG-GRT996ZP laptop, 1gig ram etc.
I have 2 batteries for out and about, dam thing eats power!!
With the notice about dodgy problems at sony HQ on batteries going up into flames, i am worried, as my batteries are red hot when in machine on 240volt power???

My battery is 14.8v/4000mah model: PCGA-BP2NY.

Can anyone help/advise me??
