hi on my k415b the baterys only seem to last about half hour
is this normal or is broken

How old is the battery?

The 4xxX is the latest version of the K series, it can't be old.

I'd speak to Vaio-Link about this, half an hour is way below what it shoudl be.

Mmmhh, it wouldn't suprise me if it's normal.

Because there is a Intel Celeron D CPU (345) in this laptop.

It's a desktop CPU with 3,06GHz and without any Speedstep.

He should still get a replacement, because by law if the fault is there at time of purchase he is entitled to one.

Seb might be right though.......my laptop has pretty much the same spec and if I were say, watching a DVD with the speakers up loud and the screen at it's brightest and wireless internet going etc, I'm lucky to get an hour. 30 minutes though........that really is short.

How long does it last when the computer is idle, or you're just doing word processing or something?

I agree TT, but Apple don't see this on the iPod, so I doubt Sony do too

on my first k415b i had problems with a faulty dvd drive. and they swaped i for a new laptop. the batery life was the same. i dont mind it not lasting lone because i run of the mains most of the time. but if its faulty its goin back. thanks for your help every one

I've got the same laptop and my battery can run about 1:30h idle...
If I got wireless internet, some applications, etc, it goes to an hour...
have a look on vaio support...
