Missing functions in all dvd players with sony vgn a 297 xp

In all dvd players DVD WIN, Realplayer, powerd DVD and so on with all kinds of different DVD's the slider function button becomes ghosted so a can not navigate quiqly through the movies. I already installed the firmware dvd updat it did not help
Who knows ?????

WinDVD for VAIO has not all features of the normal WinDVD.

You can say it has only the most importants things to play a DVD.
