Hi -
Unfortunately some low-life scum broke into my house last night while my wife and I and our two kids were asleep and stole my A Series VIAO (A197-XVP or something - it was the business model with XP) - plus some other laptop as well.
Police were wondering if I could supply the serial number - Now I know I registered it everywhere with Sony etc - so does anyone know how I can retrieve that info. I've check my profile here - but no such details are stored.
I could probably work this out myself normally - but I'm not thinking straight right now - and still in shock.
Cheers
Darren
Just checked on the other VAIO site and my laptop was the VGN-A197VP.
Hello,
if you have an e-support acount at www.vaio-link.com you can see your serialnumber if you oben a new case you can see the serialnumber, Productname and the and of warrenty.
Ouch
Hope you had them on your house Insurance
What low life scum would do such a thing?
Call vaio link they should be able to tell you.
Thanks for the help!
I followed the advice and opened a case with e-support and up popped my serial number! Knew I had registered it somewhere!
Keep your eyes open for someone selling a A197VP without a power supply!
Cheers
Darren
Hi Darren,
What a terrible thing to happen, hope your family are OK.
The serial number should be in your VAIO-Link account.
I suggest you buy a security pen or take the replacements to the police station to have marked by them, to reduce problems of finding it.
Bets of luck recovering it

call the vaio link helpdesk , they can flag it as stolen.
So if someone calls in for support for this device...
It's a pen which writes in ultravoilet so only certain equipment can read it
