My PCG-GRT716s randomly switches off

For the past few months my vaio has been randomly switching off.
Kinda frustrating when I'm half way through typing an essay
Though even worse when I'm opening a can of whoop ass on C&C Generals

Anyone got any ideas?

My neighbour also has the same range vaio as mine except a slower processor and smaller hard disk. His is nice silent and cool, where as mine is annoying loud and unusually hot.

I have a feeling that it could be because I changed the partition sizes to 10Gb C: and 50Gb 😧

Any positive feedback would be much appreciated.

Hi,

Make sure you clean the vents, and keep them clear of stuff. Blocking them can only lead to problems.

Also make sure you don't have viruses.

Mine's just started doing exactly the same thing - it's a GRZ615M. Where do I get it fixed? Was thinking about buying a George Foreman grill but my Vaio will do just the same job after about an hour each day. Unfortunatetly I reckon it's about a week outside the warranty. Still - I didn't buy it - I recommended the boss bought a Dell but he's a Sony Freak. Let's hope Sony play fair - it appears the fan just doesn't do the job.
Better keep this short before it shuts down aga.. . . . . . . . .

Usually a good notebook repairer should be able to do it for you if you don't want Sony to do it.
