New Hard Drive and Windows Vista

Hi, I have Vaio FZ21Z and I plan to buy a new HD. I would like to know if

1)I can recover with recovery disks the preinstalled partitions and windows vista in the new HD

2) and if (1) is possible, my windows vista will be genuine after hardware change.

Please help.

Hi Chrizzz and welcome to the forum.

The answer is yes on both counts but you will no longer have the hidden recovery partition so I suggest that you create at least 2 copies of the recovery media.

I suggest that prior to recovery you enter the BIOS (tap F2 at boot when you see the Vaio logo) and reset to default settings.
