Hi, I have a GRV516G which seems to be on its last legs, the PCMCIA slots do not work, i have formatted the computer but they still do not work, I have seeked professional help and they said that I would need a new motherboard to resolve this. My VAIO is 15 months old now and therefore I would have to pay for a new motherboard plus fitting which is prohibitively expensive, has anyone else had a problem like this, and is Sony likely to give me a contribution as a goodwill gesture? In addition since the format my machine has been very slow and the xp performance meter says that the machine is using 100% of its capacity which I can believe, by the speed it is running at.
Hoping someone can help!
Thanks in advance!
Hi
Sorry to hear about your VAIO, what a nightmare
Sony will not help with goodwill gestures, if you have a spare £900 then they'd probably fix it for you.
Best to get a new notebook

I have a GRV516G since Dec. 2002 with an ext HD over PCMCIA.
