Pink/green pattern on the screen

Hello,

I've been having a problem with the display of my VGN-A215M for about month now. It started with some green pixels appearing occasionally, but since a week it's almost impossible to work on the computer. Here's a screenshot of the problem:



I also noticed that the green/pink pattern tends to change when pressing on the area around the trackpad.

The computer didn't fall or anything, and the problem appeared gradually. What could be the reason? Is this a known problem? What should be replaced? Is it rather a graphics card issue or the mainboard?

Hi Romuald and welcome to the forum.

Another club member posted a similar problem to yours a couple of months ago. From memory it turned out that the defective display was caused by a broken left hand hinge which, in turn, had damaged the cable between the motherboard and screen.

This may or may not be the problem, but worth looking in to…
