When I play Age of Empires III the diagnostic tool says that my Processor speed is 950mhz.
However this vaio is supposed to run at 1.6 mhz Pentium M725.
Why is it struggling to play AOE III?
Please help.

Check out the power options and make sure your Vaio's processor setting is on "Performance * ".
* Name may be different, my windows is in french.
Thank you for your help - I will try this now and let you know by posting a further thread.
Thanks - there is some improvement - do you think I can play about with Bios tgo increase power / overclock?

I don't think you'll find anything to modify in the bios. Try to lighten your Windows as much as possible, turn off every program your can before playing, update your graphic drivers (if possible).
By "tweaking" windows you can gain some rapidity, but don't expect miracles.
When I played Oblivion, I was annoyed by loading times (HDD is a 5400rpm ...) so I installed it on an external HDD to accelerate loading times.
The BIOS is locked so you can't over or underclock
Thanks - I will consider this - last night I did notice an improvement but still very sluggish when ships fire at each other. Moving foot soldiers and building is absolutely fine.
I do appreciate your help.
