HI everyone,
I have a PCG-GRZ615M, and the screensaver does not initilize. The screen will flash three times, and then go back onto the open executible. Any ideas as to what is wrong??!
Harry
You're welcome Harry
When you get a chance to get your recovery CDs I would do a full recovery
BTW Harry you will NOT loose any of your data, documents, files, databases etc etc but as ever I recommend backing up your computer in full first, making a backup of any SonicStage database, and any other critical parts of your computer.
Kee-Lo if Harry repairs the installation, then this will be as good as a recovery because it reinstalls Windows XP, but it will not affect any files that are unrelated to XP such as SonicStage etc.
If it all comes crashing down around your ears then the full system recovery from a DVD would be the only solution!
Ah I see
Its easier and faster than doing a full Sony recovery IMHO.:smileywink:
I don't dispuite that
Good luck with it Harry

Guys, I have made the boot disk. I have used SP2 for pros, which is 200mb (WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU). I need to know how to repair the sys using the recovery console, as i am not very good at cmd. Can anyone please help me further?
Oh-James, please could you tell me where your SP2 CD instructions are, as i couldnt find them?
Harry
Great!
Here are my Service Pack 2 Boot Disk Instructions from ClubJAMES (feel free to join).
To boot to the recovery console, boot from the new SP2 boot CD, then choose the option for the recovery console from the disk.
-OR-
If you want to install it as a boot option,
From inside Windows XP run this command:
C:\Windows\i386\WINNT32.EXE /cmdcons
Ignore the error messages about the coming apocalypse, and click yes. It requires 7MB of disk space and installs the recovery console as a boot option.
To reinstall Windows XP the easy way:
1. Reboot your PC from the SP2 Boot CD.
2. At the "Welcome to Windows XP" screen choose Continue.
3. When it offers you the choice of what to do, choose "Repair and Existing Installation"
4. Pick Partition C (your WIndows XP Primary Boot Partition)
5. Watch TV for an hour.
6. Throw in 6 parts hope to 2 parts prayer.
7. VOILA. A restored VAIO.
Hopefully it will kill your Screensaver gremlin.:smileywink:
Yeah ClubJames is a cool place
