Sony FE11H External Display

This may seem a silly question, but it is annoying me as I dont know what I am trying to do is possible.

I have a Sony FE11H laptop hooked up to my 21" LCD monitor.
Just wanted to view my spreadsheet so I could see all the columns and maybe watch a few DVDs. I also have a USB external keyboard attached. Trouble is there is not a lot of room on my desk, so I would like to close the lid of my laptop so I can see my monitor behind it. Obviously when I close the lid the computer goes into hibernation. The question is can you operate the computer with the lid closed just using an external KB and monitor?.

Many thanks for any serious respones lol

Kind Regards

Justin

Hi Justin,

Yes you can use your laptop with the lid closed.

I am on a Desktop at the moment and can't look at the exact place but if you go to Control Panel>Power Options you will see either in Vaio Power Options or in Power Schemes a section where you can set what your PC does in certain circumstances.

You want the bit that asks you what you want to happen when you close the lid. Set it to "Do Nothing".

EDIT: On second thoughts I think it is in Control Panel>Power Options>Advanced.
