sony vaio VGN-A197VP port replicator with a custom Dongle..

Just recieved my vaio Model No: VGN-A197VP and am using a port replicator, Model No: VGP-PRA1

Problem is;
As its a work machine I need to plug a 'dongle' into the parallel port of the docking station. Open up the software I have and a 'dongle error' message from the software i'm trying to use.

Can anyone help, does the port replicator replicate the parallel port exactly?
I used to own a Dell with a docking station and that worked fine with the said dongle.

P.S I tried to set the Bios up but cant seem to find any I/O setting as the manual states!

According to another member it doesn't replicate it properly as it uses a virtual USB stream.
