Sony Vaio VGNNR31JS Inherent Defect

Dear Sony, Can you give me an answer to why my "top range" Laptop which I bought in Dec 2008 has been struck with an inherent defect?

I've had this laptop fixed twice now, once because the hard drive gave up on me, losing all my work and saved documents. Now I am told that the Nvidia graphics card has over-heated, melting the solder, killing off my computer again, and leading to me losing all my work again.

I'd just like to know, as this is a design fault what sony can do to help me?

Thanks

Lee
